Introducing The New Sortimo SR5 System!

Introducing The New Sortimo SR5 System

Mark was up at the crack of dawn last Wednesday, excited to make the four hour drive up the M1 to Sortimo’s factory in Oldham. Mark is a “glass half full” kind of person, even if this means getting up at 4.30am. The reason he was so excited was a day of product and installation training on Sortimo's new SR5 racking system.

The day kicked off with a presentation about how Sortimo is positioning itself in the marketplace and the reasons why the company has invested so heavily in developing the new SR5 range. They’ve invested millions in developing their online portal which allows customers and dealers to custom design van racking online.

THE NEW SORTIMO SR5 SYSTEM

The aim of the Sortimo SR5 system is to create a highly productive working environment – in this case your trades van – which is perfectly organised and optimised for small spaces.

When you opt for Sortimo SR5 van racking, you’re not just buying a highly engineered, top quality van racking system, you’re getting a workplace productivity methodology used by the very best companies in the world.

Sortimo has designed the SR5 system to be lighter, quicker to ship and easier to install. They’re also reducing their product range from 7000 to 3000 items in order to streamline their offering.

Imagine the impact of a perfectly organised van on the efficiency, not to mention the bottom line, of your trades business?

WHAT’S THE 5S METHODOLOGY?

5S methodology was developed by Toyota in the 60s because the car manufacturer wanted to both increase productivity and create a better organised, tidier, and cleaner environment for its workers. Their 5S methodology is now widely used around the world in “just in time” manufacturing.

SR5 derives from five words:

整理 - Seiri meaning “Sort”

整頓) - Seiton meaning “Set In Order”

清掃) – Seisō meaning “Shine”

清潔) – Seiketsu meaning “Standardise”

躾 – Shitsuke meaning “Sustain”

(How impressed are you with our Japanese?!)

WHITEBOX CUSTOM VAN RACKING DESIGN

There’s no doubt the new online portal is brilliant. However what it can’t do is replace the knowledge and expertise of a van racking design expert.

This is why those of our customers who’ve tried out the new online portal and used it to configure an initial van racking design have come back to us, at no extra cost, for expert advice on how to configure their design to perfectly meet their needs.

BACK TO MARK’S VISIT

After a morning sitting in the classroom, Mark was itching to get into the workshop and learn how to assemble and install the SR5 system.

Working in a team, he removed racking from the demo van, stripped it down and re-assembled it to get a better understanding about the key features of the new system.

Mark was particularly impressed by the extra strength in the shelves and the reduction in the number of components used. Without compromising quality or safety, the new system is significantly lighter, reducing weight load.

Mark was thrilled to bits to get out of the office and to go behind the scenes of the installation centre and see some of the projects Sortimo were fitting out. Did you see this picture of a hydraulics van he took over on our Instagram feed?

Sortimo Van Racking For An East Sussex Heating Engineer

Sortimo Van Racking For An East Sussex Heating Engineer

We were delighted when East Sussex based heating engineer, Mark Boakes, got in touch and asked us to design a van racking system for his T6 Combi. Because Mark lives and works close to the Whitebox office, we arranged to visit so that he could see our demo van himself.

We worked with Mark to create a design, bespoke to his needs. Mark and his young family head off to the Alps each year for their annual skiing trip. It was important there was room in the back to seat the kids and that the racking units could be moved out easily to make space for the family’s skiing equipment.

We designed and installed the nearside racking unit first. Then a few months later, we designed and installed a racking unit for the offside.

Here are a few photos from this installation.

Great service, great products. Well looked after as always. I wouldn’t deal with any other company. Friendly professional company with the feel of a family business. Try them. You will be glad you did!

A Sortimo Van Racking Installation For A West Sussex Electrician

A Van Racking Installation For A West Sussex Electrician

Benn was one of our very first customers! He originally started his career in media sales, but decided this wasn’t for him. He re-trained as an electrician, and quickly set up on his own electrical company in Horsham, West Sussex.

We were delighted to be asked to fit out his first van, a Ford Transit Custom, with Sortimo van racking. Benn opted for nearside and offside racking with strapping rails. Plus plenty of L Boxxes and S Boxxes to store his components.

Here’s a video we shot of the installation:

Sortimo Van Racking For A Fast Growing Heating & Electrical Company

Sortimo Van Racking For A Fast Growing Heating & Electrical Company

Originally set up in 1968, Domestic Heating Services was taken over by one of its employees, Mitchell Warren, in 2008 when the owner decided to retire.

Over the past 10 years, under Mitchell’s stewardship, the company has gone from strength to strength - expanding its range of products and services, opening a showroom in the picturesque village of Findon where it’s based, and building up a team of heating engineers and electricians.

We were delighted when Mitchell asked us to design a van racking system for the latest edition to his fleet, a T6 Combi. Mitchell bought the van for himself with a view to converting it into a camper van at a later date. He wanted a durable van system that will last for a number of years, hence his choice of Sortimo.

We worked with Mitchell to create a design, bespoke to his needs. We installed a raised floor with underfloor HD drawers. The nearside and offside units were kitted out with a selection of S Boxess and L Boxxes, as well as an emergency first aid kit
