You want your van to do what you need, when you need it
… and we want to help you create the van that works for you.
That’s why we’re here, to help you create a mobile workspace that’s designed around your business.
We’re on a mission to save 10 million hours
Since 2013, Whitebox have sourced, designed and installed van racking solutions to help trades be more productive, by helping them be more organised at work.
Before founding Whitebox, Mark Cropley spent 13 years working out the back of vans. After another ten years running a specialist van racking business, he’s learnt a thing or two about getting the most from your van racking.
With more than 500 vans kitted out, we’ve already saved over 500,000 hours for our customers. As we continue to learn, we’re confident that our 10 million hours target is well within reach.
But we had to start small
In his first job out of college, Mark was a mobile agricultural technician who hated being in the workshop.
In fact, during his four years with New Holland, he practically lived out the back of his van.
In that time, he had the van with tools all over the floor. He had unsuitable racking that didn’t keep anything in place. And he had the time to learn how things could be done differently.
When he started his own mobile mechanic business in 2004, Mark used what he’d learnt so far to start getting organised.
That’s when the Organised Trades was born.
We put everything we learn into everything we do
When he started Whitebox, Mark wanted to use everything he’d learnt to help other trades work smarter.
Coming off the tools gave him a chance to refine his knowledge of van racking and improve his understanding of what it means to work efficiently. Now, we learn something new with every job, and we put that know-how into everything we do.
That means we can design the ideal van racking solution for your business, then install it to perfectly suit your needs. And it means we can share tips on being organised at work.
So we can focus on the things that matter most
For Mark, life is about friends, family and the impact he leaves on the world. That’s why he co-founded the Wellderness.
The pandemic showed the importance of good mental health. Returning to his role as a mobile mechanic during the first lockdown, Mark turned to nature to keep his mental health in check.
When the UK went back into lockdown in January 2021, he teamed up with Matt Dumbleton to establish a community interest company that would improve people’s lives through nature and improve nature through people.
The Wellderness wouldn’t exist if Mark wasn’t organised at Whitebox. As it is, he’s able to co-manage a company that positively affects millions of people, creates a lasting legacy for the world, and lets him spend more time in nature with friends and family.
Because, you know there’s more to life than work, work, work
Now more than ever, you need to work hard to earn a living. But if you have to work all the hours available, you’ll miss out the things you want to do outside of work.
That’s what the Organised Trades is all about – working more effectively so you have more time to do the things that matter the most.
For you, that might mean having a cuppa before you start. It might mean going camping or playing five-a-side. Or it might just mean getting to the pub at a decent time on Fridays.
For us, it means passing on 20 years of van racking knowledge.
And it means helping you work smarter when you’re on the tools, giving you more time to live the life you want to live.
Back in the workshop
Once upon a time, Mark couldn’t wait to get away from the workshop and get working out of his van.
Now that Whitebox is an established, successful van racking company, Mark finds himself back in the workshop. The difference is, this time the workshop is his.
Just off the A24 near Horsham, the Whitebox workshop is kitted out to kit out vans in a clean, secure environment. With space to build and install racking, plus a fair bit of storage room and a cracking coffee machine, Mark and his team can design and install van racking to suit all vans and all trades.
Of course, he’s still happy to get out of the workshop and visit customers.
