The Whitebox Team
Mark Cropley is the founder and Sales Director of Whitebox. Trained as a mechanical engineer, his first business, set up in 2004, was in commercial vehicle repairs. In 2011, Mark set up UK Automotive Services to provide his fleet customers with a complete van fit out service.
In 2014, Mark decided to change the business model to focus on the evolving online retail market and formed Whitebox. Since its inception, Whitebox has become an established and trusted brand in the trades industry, garnering a fast growing following on Twitter and Instagram. Mark’s knowledge about van racking systems is second to none.
Mark lives in Ashington, Sussex with his wife Sophie, three lively sons Harry, Jack and Alfie, and their very bouncy labrador, Milo. In his spare time, Mark’s a Director of TotRockinBeats, a non profit, intergenerational events company and Dad La Soul, a Saturday morning club for dads and their kids. He also helps out with the organisation of his son’s local Cub Scout group, including camping expeditions and trips away.
Denyse Whillier is our Managing Director, and she’s in charge of business strategy. She’s manages the Whitebox team, takes care of the finances, and keeps the Whitebox ship afloat. While she’s mostly hard at work behind the scenes, we are lucky to have her featured as a contributor on our blog.
A highly experienced former CEO, Denyse runs her own business consultancy, Built To Succeed. She advises small business owners across a diverse range of industries including trades and construction on how to start, grow and scale their business. Her clients include plumbers, heating engineers, electricians and joiners.
Denyse lives on Shoreham Beach, Sussex which is where you’ll find her most summer evenings. In her spare time, she has a passion for interior design and undertaken a number of home refurbishment projects. She’s also an enthusiastic tennis player.
Whitebox launched in September 2014 with a line of products from Sortimo, manufacturers of bespoke van racking. We have since added van racking systems from Vanguard and Edström to our collection. In 2018, Whitebox partnered with Armorgard, the leading manufacturer of secure tool storage. We continue to look for new opportunities to offer products that help trades people to run their businesses more efficiently.
The Organised Tradesman
The Organised Tradesman is our blog, created in 2019 with the aim of providing a comprehensive collection of advice, case studies and tips on how to start, grow and scale your trades business. And if it’s what you want to do, hang up your tools (or in Mark’s case, his spanners). and become an MD yourself.
Our advice, case studies and tips are inspired by the questions you ask about how to manage that scarce resource, time, more efficiently. If there’s a question you’d like us to answer, get in touch here.
… our podcast “The Organised Tradesman,” a series of interviews with our customers about their journey to start, organise and grow their trades business.
